Rappler’s Maria Ressa in hot seat on spreading malicious report on Resorts World Manila attack

Rappler’s Maria Ressa in hot seat on spreading malicious report on Resorts World Manila attack
Rappler’s CEO Maria Ressa was red handed for posting a malicious news on the Resorts World Manila attack last Thursday. Rappler posted the supposed participation of ISIS in the said attack.

The online media body posted the news with the headline “ISIS Filipino Operative behind Resorts World Manila attack-SITE”. The said news article claims the involvement of the ISIS in the tragedy.

The authorities deleted the idea of the involvement in the incident. The police forces persistently say that it is just a mere “robbery” incident by an alleged “mad man who suffered from gambling problems.”

But Ressa defended the malicious post and justified by posting in the twitter account “A breaking news story requires we cover and report all angles. We don’t choose NOT to report one because it might make you afraid.”

Netizens lambasted Ressa for spreading fake news, that she was so dumb to believe the supposed ISIS claim on the said attack. Instead of believing the said news article most of them bashed the online media body.

One twitter user replied that ISIS will claim anything nowadays, and as a journalist, Ressa should know that already.  This manner of reporting according to some netizens is giving them a reason to doubt the credibility of this body.

"Gunshots lang ISIS lang?" A netizen asks if Rappler has a credible source inside the ISIS Group

But somebody suggested that Rappler should be charged because the online media body has been destabilizing the government.

Irritated netizens said that Rappler is just worsening the situation.
